GP Basic Life Support Courses Hertfordshire and London areas

General Practitioner (GP) & Dental Basic Life Support Courses

Catapult Services Ltd are vastly experienced with providing General Practitioner (GP) and Dental Practice Basic Life Support (BLS) courses to registrants of the General Medical Council (GMC) and the General Dental Council (GDC) across London, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

We have extensive knowledge in GP and GDC guidelines and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which ensures that the BLS training you receive from us will meet annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements as stipulated by the relevant regulatory body; either the GMC or the GDC, to enable the continued safe running and ongoing legal requirements within the clinical setting.

It is mandatory that the CPD is completed annually and delivered by an appropriately skilled and qualified clinician – all our BLS training is led by current and practicing Healthcare professionals; much of our team are Paramedics who are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Therefore, you can be assured that the BLS training delivered will be relevant, up-to-date and satisfies all governance requirements under the relevant training frameworks and as stipulated by your regulator.
We will also work with the GP and Dental Practices themselves, to guide them in the relevant and correct drug holding and storage procedures of emergency equipment within the practice and also help to procure equipment needed to ensure full compliance under the CQC legal requirements, such as Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Oxygen and medical consumables such as oxygen masks, for example, as required.

The Quality Standards in Primary Dental and General Practice Care, alongside the UK Resuscitation Council, state that:

R
Staff based in practice settings should update their knowledge and skills in resuscitation at least annually (this includes all staff in the setting registrants and the wider practice team including support staff)
R
For all staff, various methods to acquire, maintain and assess resuscitation skills and knowledge can be used for updates
R
Training in resuscitation must be a fundamental requirement for Doctors and Healthcare professionals
R
All primary care providers should recognise the need for and make provision for staff to have sufficient time to train in resuscitation skills as part of their employment
R
Training and retraining should be a mandatory requirement for Continuing Professional Development and maintenance on professional healthcare registers
The BLS course will cover all the module components of the GMC and GDC CPD requirements and will also look at managing emergencies and administering the correct drugs in a medical emergency. The courses will meet the requirements of the annual GMC/GDC CPD BLS requirement and an e-certificate will be issued for each learner so that they can evidence their attendance.

The course will also discuss the requirements and equipment expected to be in place by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to manage medical emergencies.

The course is run by our experienced team of trainers and each session is overseen by an experienced and practicing HCPC registered Paramedic. The Catapult Services team are very experienced at delivering training within practice settings and has a multitude of returning GP and Dental Practices in the London, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas which we have been providing BLS training within for many years.

Aims and Objectives of both the GP and Dental BLS Course:

Overview:

This training session is intended to train staff in basic life support (BLS/CPR) and medical emergency skills to give them the knowledge and confidence to deal with a medical emergency with the equipment available in the practice (including the use of AED, oropharyngeal airways, Oxygen, manual suction and emergency drugs) for both patients and members of a GP or dental practice.
